As of 30 April 2020, the total installed capacity for Renewables is 87+ GW with the following break up:

Wind power: 38 GW
Solar Power: 35 GW
BioPower: 10 GW
Small Hydro Power: 5 GW

Wind energy capacity in India has increased by 1.7 times in the last 4 years. Further to this, record 100 bn+ units of renewable electricity generating last year.

Solar power capacity has increased by more than 11 times in the last five years from 2.6 GW to 28.18 GW in March 2019.

42 solar parks of aggregate capacity 23,499 MW have been approved in 17 states up to March 2019
Kurnool (1,000 MW) and Bhadla-II (648 MW) Solar Parks are fully operational
Largest Solar Park of 2,000 MW in Pavagada is under installation



Siemens Gamesa has bagged an order from Adani Green Energy for one of the largest wind power projects in India. The company will deliver 215 SG 2.2-122 wind turbines, totalling 473 MW. The wind turbines will be manufactured at its facilities in India.

Sembcorp Energy India Limited (SEIL) announced completion of its latest 800MW wind power projects, bringing its India renewable energy capacity to 1730MW. With the full commissioning of its 300MW SECI 3 wind project, Sembcorp becomes the first independent power producer to fully commission its projects awarded in the first three wind auctions held by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). Together, these assets provide enough clean energy to power more than 600,000 homes and avoid over 2 million tonnes/annum of carbon dioxide emissions. This capacity is also the largest operational wind capacity with any developer to-date from SECI auctions.

2 Mega Watt Solar Power Plant Inaugurated at Naval Station Karanja, Uran. The Plant has been installed at Naval Station Karanja and is one of the largest solar plants in the region. The Solar Plant comprises of 100% indigenously developed solar panels, tracking tables and inverters.
